Welcome to Vetex Medical

Welcome to Vetex Medical, a company dedicated to the development of innovative catheters to treat Venous Thrombus Embolism (VTE). The Vetex Thrombectomy Catheter represents a first choice interventional treatment option for physicians to add more predictability and reliability to Clot Management. Through removal of large volumes of clot, the Vetex catheter has been designed to give clinicians a more effective solution in a single session without the requirement of thrombolytic agents.

Our Technology

The Vetex Thrombectomy Catheter is a platform technology which combines two unique disruptive and extraction technologies to gently and effectively remove a large volume of wall-adherent clot in a single session.

No Thrombolytic Drugs Required

Single Session

No Capital Equipment

The device is low profile and gently adapts to vessel diameter, exerting predictable radial force to disrupt and remove clot in a safe and effective manner.  The procedure is designed to be performed in a single cath lab session, eliminating repeat procedures and ICU time, and reducing hospital costs and staff time. Maximising early clot removal in this way can resolve a patient’s pain and leg swelling, and restore their mobility and quality of life.

That couldn’t have gone any better. The Vetex device was surprisingly effective at removing wall-adherent clot on the first pass and was easy to use in our first procedure.

About Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms in a vein deep inside a part of the body. DVT is the third leading cardiovascular disease behind heart attack and stroke, with 1.2 million cases diagnosed annually in the U.S. and EU.

DVT mainly affects the large veins in the lower leg and thigh. It occurs when a blood clot forms in a vein deep within the body, particularly the veins that lie near the centre of the legs (i.e., ilio-femoral veins). Typically, these deep vein clots come on suddenly and without warning and may cause swelling and pain in the leg.

Prevention options for at-risk individuals include early and frequent walking, calf exercises, anticoagulants, aspirin, graduated compression stockings, and intermittent pneumatic compression.

Current treatments include anticoagulants, Inferior Vena Cava Filter (IVCF) thrombolytic (fibrinolytic) drugs and Interventional Mechanical or Pharmaco-mechanical thrombectomy. Surgery is rarely needed.

Vetex Medical has developed a novel platform medical device technology for vein clot management aimed at reducing the cost, time and complications associated with existing treatment options, and hence represents a first choice interventional treatment for Physicians.

Because thrombolytic agents thin the blood, they present a bleeding risk for many patients and can require prolonged  hospital stays. Without effective treatment, up to 50 percent of patients with symptomatic DVT will develop post-thrombotic syndrome within two years, which involves chronic limb pain, swelling, heaviness, fatigue, and in extreme instances, limb ulceration.

As physicians, our goal is to evolve thrombosis treatment to be safer for patients, faster and more cost effective, and the Vetex device delivers on all three.
